Dynamic links
A dynamic link is one whose destination you can change later. The code stays the same forever; where it sends people does not.
The value is entirely about things you can't take back. A link printed on packaging, a QR code on a poster, a code in a magazine ad, a business card someone filed away two years ago. All of those are fixed the moment they leave your hands. Point them at a dynamic link and they stay useful.
When to make a link dynamic
- Anything going to print, without exception.
- Anything pointing at "the current" thing: latest video, this month's offer.
- Anything on a platform you might one day leave.
The trade
Dynamic links depend on Klick.ing being there to perform the redirect, which a plain link written straight onto a poster does not. That's the honest cost of the flexibility, and it's the same trade every link shortener makes. For a campaign or a print run it's a good deal. For something that must work unattended for a decade, think about it properly first.
Dynamic links start on Starter, with more of them on higher plans. Test the link after every change of destination, because repointing is exactly when a typo becomes a lot of dead codes at once.
